Theories, models and methods for resilient supply and value chains

In a globalized world of multiple crises, marked by climate change, armed conflicts and pandemics, the HWR Research Competence Centre: Challenges and Resilience of Global Supply and Value Chains is developing new concepts for research, politics, companies and international organizations.

Affiliated with the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR), we pool the expertise of scientists from the fields of sociology, criminology, security management, business administration, economics, political science and law and conduct interdisciplinary research in four thematic clusters on various interrelated aspects of supply and value chains. We are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Main research areas

In four clusters, we address pressing issues relating to global supply and value chains. We discuss the interlinkages of value chains with different growth models in the context of globalization, examine the resilience of legal and illegal supply chains in the context of security, conflict, accountability and the rule of law, consider the viability of supply chains, their costs for companies and social value, and analyze their sustainability.
