Paula Andrea Sánchez Garciá
Paula contributes to Cluster C: The resilience of legal and illegal global value and supply chains in the context of security, contestation, accountability, and the rule of law. Together with Markus Schultze-Kraft, her work focuses on the resilience of illegal GSVC. She has been working at HWR Berlin since September 2024 Paula is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Humboldt University of Berlin. She holds an MSc in Social-ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development from Stockholm University. Her Ph.D. research focuses on using a multi-actor and transdisciplinary approach to understand the political economy and ontology of land use conversion and inequity in the Colombian Amazon, with the aim of envisioning more sustainable futures. Paula investigates the connections between legal and illegal economies, such as coca production and gold mining, and their impact on global economies, particularly the European Union. Additionally, Paula has been actively involved in research projects that seek to understand the complex interplay between climate change, ecosystem loss, and the financial system, as well as the link between deforestation and global commodity demand.
