Prof. Dr. Stefanie Lorenzen

Projects:

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Lorenzen leads – together with Prof. Eckhard Hein and Prof. Christina Teipen– Cluster B within the project, focusing on “The relationship of value chain reconfiguration with interdependent growth regimes and effects on economic and social resilience”. Prof. Lorenzen specializes in German, European and international employment and labour law. Since 2009, she has been a professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and academically heads the Master’s program in Business Law in an International Context, LL.M.. Prof Lorenzen played an active role in the development of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and advised the German government on human rights due diligence in global supply chains as part of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. Since 2014, she has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Association of Compliance Managers (BCM), where she also served as chair and vice-chair at times. In 2015, she chaired an academic expert hearing within the framework of Germany’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, aimed at improving human rights conditions in global value chains. In 2020/21, she was a member of the Expert Advisory Board for the Green Button, a state-run certification label for sustainable textiles. Since 2017, she is a board member of Germanwatch e.V., contributing to corporate accountability and human rights due diligence in global value chains. Her research focuses on human rights due diligence, social audits, compliance and co-determination in labour law, as well as gender equality at work.
